How to Update Your Marketing and Sales Strategy For the Season

As we wrap up 2022, businesses are celebrating the end of the year in their own special ways. Seasonal celebrations don’t have to be limited to company parties; they can also involve your customers! Even if you aren’t throwing parties where customers are being invited en masse, there are other ways you can engage with your customers through sales and marketing strategies.

If you didn’t come up with a special year-end promo, there are still plenty of opportunities to celebrate in the beginning of 2023. The first few months provide a clean slate and numerous opportunities for your business to showcase its spirit. You don’t need a holiday coming up to inspire a special promotion — just acknowledging the start of a new season, such as summer and fall works.

For example, if you’re celebrating the start of summer or the unofficial kickoff of boating season, seasonal promotions help you and your customers get excited, further boosting customer engagement — or at least sparking a connection. Seasonal planning can also inspire a sense of urgency in your customers so that they respond before the promotion or time ends.

Here are some ways your business can tailor its marketing and sales strategies to the season:

  1. Create original seasonal-themed products

If your business produces material goods, limited-edition seasonal collections can be an exciting new release. If you’re a restaurant, this can take the form of a limited-edition salad or drink with a tropical theme to celebrate the beginning of summer. A good example of seasonal product releases are Lunar New Year-themed makeup collections that beauty brands release in January each year.

  1. Put together seasonal bundles or sales

You can still celebrate the season with your products, even without creating anything new from scratch. Many businesses bundle some goods and/or services at a discount, giving the package a seasonally appropriate name. For example, a service-based business could promote a package including financial management resources and a financial review in line with tax season at a lower price than if these services were booked separately otherwise.

  1. Create unique marketing content

Even if you haven’t created any seasonal bundles or products, you can still add a festive flair to your regular marketing campaigns. This could be as simple as a simple “Welcome to Summer” post on social media or an informative blog post on how your business can support your customers in a manner relevant to the current season, such as giving reasons why it’s a fun idea to rent a boat during hot July weather.

  1. Put on in-person or virtual events

If you have the resources to put on events, you can consider hosting a promotional event to celebrate the season. If you have a physical location, you can decorate the space accordingly. Promotional events can include professional networking mixers, a crafts station or a sale with free, themed drinks to the first 20 attendees.
