Ways to Show Your Business Behind the Scenes

Have you ever come across those "day in the life" videos or scroll through someone's morning routine? This type of content has gained incredible popularity in recent years and it's not for no reason. We all love to get a glimpse into how other people live and work.

The same goes for your business! When you show the work and soul behind your business, you're inviting an audience into your world with open arms. You're building trust and connection that make your customers feel like they know you. All you need is your smartphone and a spark of creativity.

Here are a couple of ways to show off your business from behind the curtains.

1. Tour of your work environment

When your clients and customers put a face behind the business, it shines the light on the heart of your brand. One great way to indirectly do this is by giving them a peek behind the curtain. Whether you're working from a comfy corner at home, a shared office space or a bustling shop, your workspace says a lot about you and how you run your business. It shows the real side of where and how the magic happens.

As you walk your audience through your space, point out the little details that reflect your authenticity. Maybe a whiteboard full of ideas, stacked boxes of products or a motivational poster that keeps you going. The goal is to tell a story, 'your' story!

This works for all kinds of content - whether it's a short video or just a few photos. And the best part is, you don't need to make it fancy or perfect. The more authentic it is, the better. So ditch the cleaning and just show the everyday side of your business.

2. Snippets of your workday

Just like the popular videos we mentioned earlier, snippets of your work routine can add to that authenticity that people crave. You don't need to film your entire 9 to 5, but giving the audience an idea of what you do is what you want to aim for.

Here are some examples you could film:

📦 Packing up a customer's orders and maybe adding a freebie (a nice gesture that could encourage more customers to order).

☕️ Energizing yourself with a nice brew at your favorite local coffee shop or from the comforts of your own home.

📚 Logging in client information or setting up a meeting.

🎧 Simply relaxing with music and taking a breather. You can find plenty of royalty-free music online. Lo-Fi always hits the vibe!

A few clips of your workday strung together with chill music and a voice-over will do just the trick.

3. Time-Lapse Videos

Want to make something look ten times more cooler than it feels in the moment? Record a time-lapse! If you're working on a task where you can set up your camera in a stationary position, why not record yourself for ten minutes and then speed it up? A good time-lapse turns any tedious task into a surprisingly satisfying video.

It's really as simple as it seems. Whether you're packing a customer's order, tidying up your workspace or organizing your shop, these are videos that can be recorded in the corner of your room and sped up!

This kind of content is perfect for showing progress without having to narrate everything. It's visually appealing and easy to digest 📲.

4. Team member spotlights

Humanizing your brand is so important that we're going to bring it up again 👯‍! If you've got a team, giving them a spotlight on your official social media page is a great way to do so. It makes everything feel more real and trustworthy.

We're not talking about an interview but just a quick post or video introducing them. It's also a great way to show your team some love and appreciation.

Here are some pointers to cover if you need some inspiration:

🧩 Talk about their role in the organization and what they love most about it.

🎨 Share a personal or motivational story about their professional journey.

👾 Shock the audience with a fun fact that no one knows about!

Team member spotlights also give you a little break from being the face of everything! At Stingray Advisory Group, we also love to show some of the amazing people behind our business. Check out our most recent spotlight for some inspiration here.

These examples of behind-the-scenes content don't require a big production of any sort. Just be yourself and share the moments that matter, even the moments that are messy. It's all about being real.

Your business isn't just about products, services, or numbers: it's about the people, stories, and the heart from within that give people a reason to connect with you beyond the checkout page!
